Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – Holy, Holy, Holy Is the Lord

Call to Worship – Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!  Ps. 96:7-9

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 80 – Lord, with Glowing Heart

Reading of Law – Matthew 22:37-40

Confession of Sin – Almighty God, we confess we have broken your commandments. We have sinned by selfishness, worldliness, unbelief and pride. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, and we have not walked humbly with you. Forgive us our sins and blot out our debts according to your tender mercies, according to your loving kindness. Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus your Son. Give us a humble and contrite heart that we might forgive others as you have forgiven us. We ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Col. 1:13-14

Exhortation to Give – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21

Sermon – An Exposition of John 3:1-8: “You Need to Be Born Again”

To see and enter the kingdom of God, you need to be born again:

1. Otherwise, you cannot understand who Jesus really is. (John 3:1-2)

2. That is, you must be regenerated – renewed and cleansed – by the Holy Spirit to enter God’s saving rule in Jesus. (John 3:3-5)

3. Because mortal sinners beget mortal sinners – but only the sovereign Spirit gives spiritual life. (John 3:6-8)

Prayer of Application

Closing Song – NTH 339 – For Your Gift of God the Spirit

Benediction – And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. 1 Thess. 3:12-13
