LIVING HOPE OPC ORDER OF WORSHIP for Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 10:45 AM

Prelude

Opening Song – Light of the World

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Hymn – The Advent of Our God

Call to Worship – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 196 – Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Reading of the Law – 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty God, we confess we have broken your commandments. We have sinned by selfishness, worldliness, unbelief and pride. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, and we have not walked humbly with you. Forgive us our sins and blot out our debts according to your tender mercies, according to your loving kindness. Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus your Son. Give us a humble and contrite heart that we might forgive others as you have forgiven us. We ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. – 1 Corinthians 6:11

Hymn – NTH 198 – Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates

Exhortation to Give – Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:17-20

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

Hymn – NTH 194 – O Come, O Come Emmanuel

Scripture Readings – OT: Psalm 34 / NT: John 9:1-34

Prayer for Illumination

Exhortation – An Exposition of John 9:13-34: “Was Blind but Now I See”

Jesus’ undeniable, sight-giving sign:

  1. 1. Divides the religious “experts.” (John 9:13-17)
  2. 2. Reveals unbelieving prejudice. (John 9:18-23)
  3. 3. Creates a bold witness – and produces blind hostility. (John 9:24-34)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 460 – Amazing Grace

Benediction – And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. 1 Thess. 3:12-13
