Prelude

Opening Song – For the Cause

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. 1:2

Call to Worship Hymn – NTH 393 – Come, Let Us Join with One Accord

Call to Worship – Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. Ps. 115:1-3

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Psalm of Praise – Psalm 41 (Seedbed Psalter)

Reading of the Law – Exodus 20:1-17

(Silent Confession of Sin)

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty God, we confess we have broken your commandments. We have sinned by selfishness, worldliness, unbelief and pride. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, and we have not walked humbly with you. Forgive us our sins and blot out our debts according to your tender mercies, according to your loving kindness. Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus your Son. Give us a humble and contrite heart that we might forgive others as you have forgiven us. We ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Rom. 8:1-4

Membership Vows – Anna Batten

Exhortation to Give – Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Collection with Prayer (Offertory: NTH 445 – Something for Thee)

Doxology – NTH 731

Pastoral Prayer

Hymn of Preparation – NTH 561 – Lord, Speak to Me That I May Speak

Scripture Readings – OT: Psalm 41:1-13 / NT: John 13:1-20

Song of Preparation – Speak, O Lord

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of John 13:12-20: “Understanding, Imitation, and Mission”

Jesus humbles Himself to serve us – and calls us to do as He has done.

  1. 1. He calls us first to understand who He is and what He’s done. (John 13:12-15)
  2. 2. He commands us to show our blessedness by doing likewise. (John 13:16-17)
  3. 3. He has chosen us, revealed who He is to us, and sends us out to represent Him. (John 13:18-20)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 644 – May the Mind of Christ My Savior

Benediction – And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. 1 Thess. 3:12-13
