O Lord, have mercy on us, who are ashamed and sorry for all the ways we have displeased you. Teach us to hate our errors, cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, send your purifying grace into our hearts, we beseech you, and that we may henceforth live in your light and walk in your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Christ in the OT (Genesis 2:18-25 with Ephesians 5:22-33): “Two Adams and Two Brides”

God ordains marriage for the good of humanity – and to reveal a Gospel mystery.

  1. 1. Marriage is appointed for covenant companionship. (Gen. 2:18-22; Eph. 5:22-27).
  2. 2. Marriage is the uniting of the husband and the wife as one flesh – to reflect the mystery of Christ’s union with His bride, the church. (Gen. 2:23-25; Ephesians 5:31-32).

 Prayer of Application

 Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper

(Bread: NTH 252 When I Survey the Wondrous Cross / Cup: NTH 307 – Nothing But the Blood)

  • Invitation & Warning
  • Serving the Supper
  • Prayer of Thanksgiving

Closing Song – NTH 169 – My Heart Does Overflow (Psalm 45)
