Announcements

Gospel Greeting Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Tim. 1:2

Call to Worship Song – Holy, Holy, Holy Is the Lord

Call to Worship – Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Ps. 30:4-5

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 524 – Thy Works, Not Mine, O Christ

Reading of Law – Ephesians 2:1-3

Corporate Confession of Sin – Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph. 2:8-9

Confession of Faith (The Nicene Creed)

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of his Father before all worlds,

God of God, Light of Light,

very God of very God,

begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;

by whom all things were made;

who for us men and for our salvation

came down from heaven,

and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,

and was made man;

and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered and was buried;

and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures,

and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father;

and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead;

whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and giver of Life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son;

who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;

who spoke by the prophets;

and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church;

we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;

and we look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Doxology – NTH 731

Exhortation to Give – Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. 1 Chron. 16:29

– As the Deer

Prayer for Illumination

An Exposition of John 6:22-33: “The True Life-Giving Bread from Heaven”

Jesus rebukes those who seek Him with worldly motives – and calls us to receive the true bread from heaven.

  1. The search for the “Bread King.” (John 6:22-25)
  2. The call to do the work of God – to believe in the One He sent. (John 6:26-29)
  3. The revelation of the true life-giving Bread from heaven. (John 6:30-33)

Prayer of Application

Closing Song – NTH 461 – Not What My Hands Have Done

Benediction – The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
