The Tearing of the Temple Veil

 Matthew 27:51 (ESV) 51  And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.  

 

The Torn Temple Veil proclaims that our separation from God by sin is ended

 

  1. Look at Life Before the Veil and Why Things Changed for Us

 

  1. Our original condition was one of unbroken communion with the Living God

  1. Our rebellion result was spiritual death and separation from God

  1. This Veil Is Not New and Should Not Surprise Us

 

      It is seen in God’s warnings and veilings of Himself from man

 

               It was there isn the beginning   Genesis 3:24  

                              It took many forms  -   Ex 3:2-6       - Ex 19:101-2     – Ex 33:17-23

 

  1. It is seen in God’s symbolism in the OT

                             

               The description of the Holy of Holies -  Ex 26:31-35

               The description of the Day of Atonement – Lev. 16:2,  12-15, 20-23

              

  1. it is seen in God’s reaction to the violations

                Gen 4:1-4

               Lev 10:1

               1 Sam 2:33 & 4:17-18

               1 Chron 13:9-10 (Ex 25:14 & Num 4 –Koathites)

 

III. It Is the Tearing of This Veil that Must Amaze Us
