Prelude

Opening Song – Light of the World

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song Trinity Psalter Hymnal 100A – Shout to the LORD, All Earth [words below]

Call to Worship – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 80 – Lord, with Glowing Heart I’d Praise Thee

Reading of the Law – Exodus 20:1-21

(Silent Confession of Sin)

Confession of Sin – Almighty, everlasting God, for our many sins we justly deserve eternal condemnation. In Your great mercy, you sent your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who won for us forgiveness of sins and everlasting righteousness. Grant us true repentance that, dead to sin, we may be raised up by faith in Your life-giving Gospel. Grant us your Holy Spirit that we may be ever thankful and live a faithful and godly life in your service; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. Gal. 3:13-14

Doxology – NTH 732

Exhortation to Give – “…Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35b

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

Medley

– Seek Ye First

– NTH 481 – Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Scripture Readings – OT: Isaiah 52:13-53:12

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of John 12:20-26: “Sir, We Wish to See Jesus”

Some Gentiles wish to see Jesus – and Jesus announces that His hour has come.

  1. 1. Why do you want to see Jesus? And where should you look? (John 12:20-22)
  2. 2. Do you see how the Son of Man is glorified – in His life-giving death for you? (John 12:23-24)
  3. 3. Do you see that you must die with Jesus by faith – in order to live? (John 12:25-26)

Prayer of Application

Song of Response – NTH 252 – When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

Benediction – Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Trinity Psalter Hymnal 100A – Shout to the LORD, All Earth
