Prelude

Opening Song – Living Hope

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – Reformation Hymn

Call to Worship – Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:1-3

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 305 – Arise, My Soul, Arise

Reading of the Law – Romans 3:9-20

(Silent Confession of Sin)

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty God, we confess we have broken your commandments. We have sinned by selfishness, worldliness, unbelief and pride. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, and we have not walked humbly with you. Forgive us our sins and blot out our debts according to your tender mercies, according to your loving kindness. Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus your Son. Give us a humble and contrite heart that we might forgive others as you have forgiven us. We ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. Romans 3:21-25a

 Confessional Medley

– Depths of Mercy

– Beneath the Cross

Exhortation to Give – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21

Doxology – NTH 731

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

Scripture Readings – OT: Joel 2:23-32 / NT: Galatians 3:1-5

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of Galatians 3:1-5: “An Exposition of Galatians 3:1-5: “Placarding Christ Crucified”

When Christ is publicly portrayed as crucified, Satan seeks to bewitch the church. That bewitchment is exposed by asking:

  1. 1. Who has bewitched you? (Galatians 3:1)
  2. 2. How did you receive the Spirit in the first place? (Galatians 3:2)
  3. 3. Are you now seeking to be perfected by the flesh? (Galatians 3:3)
  4. 4. Did you suffer for Christ in vain? (Galatians 3:4)
  5. 5. How does God continue to supply the Spirit to you? (Galatians 3:5)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 551 – How Blest Is He Whose Trespass (Psalm 32)

Benediction – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
