Prelude

Opening Song – Living Hope

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – To those who are elect . . . according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you. 1 Peter 1:1b-2

Call to Worship Hymn – Reformation Hymn

Call to Worship – Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised. Ps. 96:1-4a

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 80 – Lord, with Glowing Heart I’d Praise Thee

Reading of the Law – Romans 3:9-20

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty, everlasting God, for our many sins we justly deserve eternal condemnation. In Your great mercy, you sent your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who won for us forgiveness of sins and everlasting righteousness. Grant us true repentance that, dead to sin, we may be raised up by faith in Your life-giving Gospel. Grant us your Holy Spirit that we may be ever thankful and live a faithful and godly life in your service; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. Romans 3:21-25a

Doxology – NTH 731

Exhortation to Give – But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you — see that you excel in giving which is an act of grace also. 2 Cor. 8:7

Sermon – An Exposition of Titus 2:1-15: “Living Well – in Light of God’s Grace & Glory”

Christ has redeemed us form lawlessness – to purify us for Himself, to be zealous for good works.

  1. 1. Good works are necessary – at every stage and station of life. (Titus 2:1-10)
  2. 2. Good works are motivated – by God’s grace and glory in Christ. (Titus 2:11-14)
  3. 3. Good works are commanded – and those who declare them must not be despised. (Titus 2:15)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 518 – Christ, of All My Hopes the Ground

Benediction – Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
