Gospel Greeting – Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. – 2 Tim 1:2b

Call to Worship Hymn – My Heart is Filled with Thankfulness

Call to Worship – Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Ps. 105:1-4

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – In Thanksgiving, Let Us Praise Him

Reading of the Law – Matthew 22:34-40

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty, everlasting God, for our many sins we justly deserve eternal condemnation. In Your great mercy, you sent your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who won for us forgiveness of sins and everlasting righteousness. Grant us true repentance that, dead to sin, we may be raised up by faith in Your life-giving Gospel. Grant us your Holy Spirit that we may be ever thankful and live a faithful and godly life in your service; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” … For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Rom. 10:9-11, 13

Doxology – NTH 733

Exhortation to Give – Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Psalm 96:8

Jesus opens the eyes of a man born blind.

  1. 1. Jesus corrects a bad view of sin and sickness – that we might see that He is Light to the world. (John 9:1-4)
  2. 2. Seeing Jesus’ sign and its strange symbols – saliva, clay, washing, sight. (John 9:5-7)
  3. 3. Jesus’ sight-giving grace – and a witness who will see more and more clearly. (John 9:8-12)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 57 – Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah, O My Soul (Psalm 146)

Benediction – May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 15:5-6
