LIVING HOPE OPC ORDER OF WORSHIP (with membership vows of Betty Minich) for Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 10:45 AM

Opening Song – W&C 334 – Come Ye Sinner, Poor and Needy

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – Come into the King’s Chamber

Call to Worship – I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! – Psalm 34:1-3

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 345 – Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken

Reading of the Law – Exodus 20:1-17

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty God, we confess we have broken your commandments. We have sinned by selfishness, worldliness, unbelief and pride. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, and we have not walked humbly with you. Forgive us our sins and blot out our debts according to your tender mercies, according to your loving kindness. Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus your Son. Give us a humble and contrite heart that we might forgive others as you have forgiven us. We ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17

Church Membership Vows of Betty Minich

Exhortation to Give – Jesus says, “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

– As the Deer

– NTH 518 – Christ of All My Hopes the Ground

Scripture Readings – OT: Ezekiel 47:1-12 / NT: John 7:37-52

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of John 7:37-52: “Jesus’ Living Waters – Received or Refused?”

Jesus gives living waters to those who know their thirst and believe His promise.

  1. Specifically, Jesus freely offers His Spirit to satisfy our spiritual thirst. (John 7:37-39)
  2. However, many people debate and divide over His free offer. (John 7:40-44)
  3. Sadly, religious “experts” explain away His free offer. (John 7:45-52)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 519 – Fountain of Never-Ceasing Grace

Benediction – Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
