LIVING HOPE OPC ORDER OF WORSHIP

for Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at 10:45 AM

Opening Song – Living Hope

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – The Risen Christ

Call to Worship – If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. – Colossians 3:1-2

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 277 – Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Reading of the Law – Romans 3:9-20

(Silent Confession of Sin)

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and sober life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. – Romans 3:21-25a

Exhortation to Give – Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.  Philippians 4:17-20

Collection with Prayer (Offertory: NTH 274 – Thine Be the Glory)

Doxology – NTH 732

Pastoral Prayer

Hymn of Preparation – NTH 283 – Alleluia, Alleluia

Scripture Readings – OT: Psalm 16 / NT: John 20:1-18

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of John 20:1-18: “I Have Seen the Lord – Jesus Lives!”

Jesus is risen on the first day of the week. And that means:

1. Hope lives! The tomb is empty. (John 20:1-10)

2. Love lives! The risen Jesus appears to Mary. (John 20:11-16)

3. Jesus lives! The good news is to be announced and believed by His disciples. (John 20:17-18)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 286 – Worship Christ, the Risen King

Benediction – Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.    Hebrews 13:20-21
