Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Gal. 1:3-5

Call to Worship Hymn – Stand Up and Bless the Lord

Call to Worship – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 76 – Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

Reading of Law – A Summary of the Ten Commandments & Great Commandment

Confession of Sin – Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before you our sinful nature – prone to evil and slothful in good – and all our shortcomings and offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. O Lord, have mercy on us, who are ashamed and sorry for all the ways we have displeased you. Teach us to hate our errors, cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, send your purifying grace into our hearts, we beseech you, that we may henceforth live in your light and walk in your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly… But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6, 8

Exhortation to Give – For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. – 2 Cor. 8:9

God remembers His covenant promise to Noah – and to us in Christ. And so:

  1. 1. God acts to bring the ark to rest on dry ground – and remembers His covenant promise to save us in Christ. (Genesis 8:1-5; Luke 1:67-79)
  2. 2. God confirms His judgment has passed by the dove and the olive leaf – and gives us peace with Him in Christ. (Genesis 8:6-12; Matthew 3:13-17)
  3. 3. He begins a new creation after the flood – and makes us a new creation in Christ. (Genesis 8:13-19; 2 Corinthians 5:17)

Prayer of Application

(Bread: NTH 427 – Amidst Us Our Beloved Stands / Cup: NTH 429 – Let Thy Blood in Mercy Poured)
