Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 92 – A Mighty Fortress

Reading of God’s Law – Romans 3:19-20

Confession of Sin – Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. And grant, O merciful Father, for Jesus’ sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and joyful life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. Romans 3:21-22a

Exhortation to Give – Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. 1 Chron. 16:29

Christ calls and equips elders by His grace to oversee His flock. That grace is evident:

  1. Relationally – in his family (Titus 1:5-6)
  2. Negatively – in what he is not. (Titus 1:7)
  3. Positively – in what he is. (Titus 1:8)
  4. Doctrinally – in his devotion to the Gospel. (Titus 1:9)

Prayer of Application

Closing Song – NTH 345 – Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken

Benediction – The LORD bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! Psalm 128:5
