Prelude - Living Hope

Announcements

Gospel Greeting Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – I Exalt Thee

Call to Worship – Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Ps. 150:1-2

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 38 – Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

Reading of Law – Exodus 20:1-17

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. And grant, O merciful Father, for Jesus’ sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and joyful life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24

Hymn of Response – NTH 469 – How Sweet and Awesome Is the Place

Exhortation to Give – …Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35b

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

Scripture Readings – OT: Exodus 17:1-7 / NT: John 6:41-59

Hymn of Preparation – NTH 378 – Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face

Prayer for Illumination

An Exposition of John 6:41-59: “Eating Jesus’ Flesh and Blood”

Jesus is the life-giving Bread from heaven:

  1. His humble humanity hides His heavenly origin. (John 6:41-42)
  2. His spiritual nourishment is only for those whom the Father draws. (John 6:43-51)
  3. His crucified flesh and shed blood give life to those who believe. (John 6:52-59)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 517 – I’ve Found a Friend, O Such a Friend!

Benediction – May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 15:5-6
