Prelude

Opening Song – Living Hope

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – The Risen Christ

Call to Worship – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 286 – Worship Christ, the Risen King

Reading of the Law – Exodus 20:1-17

Corporate Confession of Sin – Almighty, everlasting God, for our many sins we justly deserve eternal condemnation. In Your great mercy, You sent Your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who won for us forgiveness of sins and everlasting righteousness. Grant us true repentance that, dead to sin, we may be raised up by faith in Your life-giving Gospel. Grant us Your Holy Spirit that we may be ever thankful and live a faithful and godly life in Your service; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

Resurrection Hymn – NTH 267 – The Day of Resurrection

Exhortation to Give – Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Psalm 96:8

Doxology – NTH 731

Prayer for Collection & Pastoral Prayer

Scripture Readings – OT: Leviticus 23:33-43 / NT: John 7:1-13

Song of Preparation – Behold Our God

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of John 7:1-13: “Does Jesus Need Your Advice?”

Jesus knows what He’s doing and why He came into the world:

  1. Nevertheless, Jesus’ brothers give Him unsolicited worldly advice. (John 7:1-5)
  2. And so, Jesus declares His “against-the-world” mission and its timing. (John 7:6-9)
  3. But people have mixed worldly opinions about Jesus’ character and intentions. (John 7:10-13)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 248 – Ah, Holy Jesus, How Hast Thou Offended

Benediction – And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. 1 Thess. 3:12-13
