LIVING HOPE OPC ORDER OF WORSHIP

for Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at 10:45 AM

Opening Song – In Christ Alone

Gospel Greeting – To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.     Jude 1:1-2

Call to Worship Song – Before the Throne of God Above

Call to Worship – But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than that of Abel.    Hebrews 12:22-24

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 6 – O Come, My Soul, Bless Thou the Lord (Ps. 103)

Reading of the Law – Galatians 3:10-12

(Silent Confession of Sin)

General Confession of Sin – Almighty, everlasting God, for our many sins we justly deserve eternal condemnation. In Your great mercy, you sent your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who won for us forgiveness of sins and everlasting righteousness. Grant us true repentance that, dead to sin, we may be raised up by faith in Your life-giving Gospel. Grant us your Holy Spirit that we may be ever thankful and live a faithful and godly life in your service; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.           Gal. 3:13-14

Hymn of Gospel Assurance – NTH 472 – Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Wretched

Exhortation to Give – For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. – 2 Cor. 8:9

Collection with Prayer (Offertory: NTH 92 – A Mighty Fortress Is Our God)

Doxology – NTH 733

Pastoral Prayer

Medley– NTH 520 – Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness / NTH 87 – The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want (Ps. 23)

Scripture Readings – OT Lesson: Jeremiah 23:1-6 / NT Lesson: Philippians 3:1-11

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of Philippians 3:4-9: “Commended to the Word of His Grace”

God commends us to Christ and His righteousness alone. Therefore:

  1. Let us count as loss all our pride and self-righteousness. (Philippians 3:4-7)
  2. Let us count as gain to only know Christ and His righteousness – by faith alone. (Philippians 3:8-9)

Prayer of Application

Hymn of Response – NTH 169 – My Heart Does Overflow (Ps. 45)

Benediction – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.          Romans 15:13
