 Prelude

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – NTH 246 – Man of Sorrows! What a Name

Call to Worship – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Opening Hymn – NTH 524 – Thy Works, Not Mine, O Christ

Reading of Law – A Summary of the Ten Commandments & Great Commandment

Confession of Sin – Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. And grant, O merciful Father, for Jesus’ sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and joyful life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2

Doxology – NTH 731

Exhortation to Give – But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in giving which is an act of grace also. 2 Cor. 8:7

Prayer for Regular & Diaconal Collections with Pastoral Prayer

Scripture Readings – OT: Genesis 2:4-17 / NT: Galatians 3:10-14

Hymn of Preparation – NTH 252 – When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

Prayer for Illumination

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Week of 10/04/2020

1. Today we will celebrate the Lord's Supper. We will also take the Deacon's Fund offering and distribute the Food Bank resources.

2. Starting Sunday (October 4th) we will be offering an early Worship Service at 8:30am (that will not be live streamed) in addition to our regular 10:45am Worship Service (which will be live streamed). We plan to offer this Worship service monthly on the first Sunday of each month. This early service is to accommodate those who prefer to maintain stricter Covid-19 protection and distancing guidelines to avoid contagion. Therefore, we ask everyone who is in the building before Sunday School to keep masks on at all times, and maintain strict physical distancing.

3. Music Team Meeting - October 4 at 12:30pm after church. Anyone who is interested in serving on the music team is invited to attend.  We welcome singers and instrumentalist. A discussion of the ministry, philosophy and function of the team will be discussed.  This meeting is open to all, whether there is a desire to join the team or a desire to understand better the ministry of the music team at Living Hope.  Any questions, contact Beth Barshinger.

4. The Ladies' Bible Study will meet this Thursday 10/08 at 10:00am. The women will be studying the book of Ephesians this year and will meet every other Thursday from 10:00am -12:00pm. Face masks are optional. Please bring your Bible, a notebook and pen. Child care will be provided. Ask Andie Batten if you have any questions.

5. Harvest Dinner – their will be a different form of a Harvest Dinner to be held on Sunday October 11th after church at the Truscott’s. Beverages will be provided. This is a BYO Lunch event, so bring whatever you want to eat. Also, if possible, bring some chairs. While chairs will be provided, we want to make sure that there are enough. This is a “one time” event – there is no rain date if this needs to be cancelled. If you have questions, contact Mary Ann Truscott.

6. Operation Christmas Child - Please bring your packed shoe boxes back to the church by October 11. If you don’t have a shoe box, empty shoe boxes are under the Operation Christmas Child table that is in the hallway. Please leave your filled shoe boxes under the coat rack by October 11th.

7. The Wednesday evening Bible Study, Discussion and Prayer has resumed here at the church. Also, a Zoom invitation will be sent out by Wednesday afternoon for those who cannot join us at LHOPC.

8. MEAL MINISTRY – Tami McKee would like you to let her me know if anyone would like to be added or removed from the list of those who receive requests for the Meal Ministry? Also, as a reminder, if anyone is aware of a need that should be addressed by the Meal Ministry, please contact me to let me know. Tami McKee -

9. Barb McAdams needs help getting to church. Her request is for people to be strong enough to help steady her in case she loses her balance. She does not want to come to Sunday School. So we need as many volunteers as are willing. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Once people sign up, a schedule will be made up. As Skip says, “many hands make light work”.

10. There are multiple copies of Church Around the World, Focus on the Family and Glimpses of Christian History inserts available that can be picked up from long table in hallway.

11. Prayer requests and praises – please get them to Pastor Phelps ahead of the service either by email or handing him a written prayer request.
